Photo of Othe and Sarah

This photo of Othe and Sarah (Bartlett Wilson Friermood) Hendrix must have hung in Othe's home at one time. It is about 12 x 20 inches and is badly damaged. Othe was born 19 November 1826 in Putnam County, Indiana and died 16 October 1918. He is buried in Graceland Cemetery, Knoxville, Marion County, Iowa.

Sarah Ann Bartlett was Othe's second wife, and he was her third husband. She was born June 20, 1822 in Virginia and died March 20, 1911 in Knoxville, Marion County Iowa. Like Othe she is buried in Graceland Cemetery.

Othe and Sarah were married in Delaware County, Indiana, and moved to Marion County, Iowa, with their son Thomas (1867-1960) and daughter Katheryn (1873-1950), as well as children from Sarah's first marriage to Michael L. Wilson (abt 1822-1862) and a daughter from her second marriage to Reuben Friermood.

Thomas Hendrix was a policeman in Des Moines and married three times: Louise Lewis, Viola Holdsworth, and Carrie Black. In 1888 Katheryn Hendrix married James Madison Maddy (1856-1940) in Knoxville, where they lived for the rest of their lives.

[Grandpa Jim was born in Knoxville and now lives in Newton, Iowa. He is descended from Michael L. Wilson and Sarah Bartlett.]
