Grand Army of the Republic (GAR)

William Cady Post 401, Camanche IA

The William Cady Post 401 was chartered 30 Sep 1885. It had 25 charter members and a total of 26 members. It was disbanded in 14 Nov 1887. The following list is from index cards of membership records on microfilm at FamilySearch.org. After it disbanded, many of the members went to other GAR posts. The Clinton County Historical Society has these cards.

This is an example of the information the cards contain. Some are very well filled out and some, unfortunately, only contain a name a very little other information. This one is for William Cady.
