Washington High School construction began in 1952 for a 26,850 square foot building. It was initially designed for future additions of a gymnasium, auditorium, and additional classrooms.  The gymnasium, locker rooms and an industrial arts room were added in 1956.  A 50,452 square foot addition, which included the auditorium were constructed in 1972.  (Source: Wikipedia)

The school was open for student attendance in the fall of 1953.  An open house and dedication was held on October 15, 1953.
