Edna Frances Volkman 1876 - 1959

Funerial services were held for Mrs. Edna Volkman at the Methodist church Thursday afternoon with Rev. Earl Kurl officiating. William Bradley sang accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Earl Kurtz. The Eastern Star funeral service was given at the Danbury cemetery with Mrs. J. K. Granter acting as worthy matron, assisted by Mrs. Clark Weary, Mrs. R. G. Sheumaker, Mrs. Jack Colbert, Mrs. Don Kirkpatrick, Mrs. John Cord and Viola Mohr. The Walter Funeral home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Volkman was born at Shenandoah, Iowa, January 28, 1876. She attended Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls and taught school for several years. After marriage with Mr. Harvey Volkman they moved to a farm near here. They moved to a farm near Council Bluffs, later moving here again. Two sons were born to this union. Mr. Volkman died in 1928.

She was a member of the Methodist church, Woman's Society of Christian Service, and the Order of the Eastern Star. She became ill Friday, Saturday, she was taken to the Hartley Memorial Hospital at Battle Creek where she suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and died Tuesday morning.

Survivors include two sons, Eugene of Danbury and Donald of Cincinnati, Ohio, two daughters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
