John Thomas Christiansen, 84, Lawton, Iowa, former Sioux City resident, died Saturday at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bethel
Lutheran Church in Lawton. The Rev. Mark Buchhop will officiate. Burial will be in Banner Cemetery. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. today at the W. Harry Christy Funeral Home in Morningside.

Mr. Christiansen was born June 14, 1897, at Midway, Iowa.

He married Frieda H. Rossow Jan. 28, 1920, at Midway. They farmed at Midway before moving to Spencer. They lived there for a few years and later moved to Sioux City. He worked for Burke Lumber Co. for 35 years and returned to farming. He retired to Lawton 12 years ago. Mrs. Christiansen died Aug. 20, 1980, in Sioux City.

He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Lawton.

Survivors Include two sons, Alvin of Sioux City and Bill of Moville, Iowa; four daughters, Mrs. Don (Adeline) Thomason and Mrs. Walter (Arlene) Schindler, both of Sioux City; Mrs. Jerold (Betty) Strickland of South Sioux City and Mrs. Elna Ruring of Lawton; 13 grandchildren and 13 greatgrandchildren.
