KINGSLEY, Iowa -- Richard W. Christenson, 80, of rural Kingsley, died Friday, Sept. 17, 1993, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Church of the Brethren in Kingsley, with Dr. Howard Marty officiating. Burial will be in Banner Township Cemetery, Lawton, Iowa. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at the Earnest-Dickison-Michaelson Funeral Home in Kingsley.

Mr. Christenson was born Jan. 9, 1913, in rural Lawton, son of Edward A. and Mathilda (Anderson) Christenson. He graduated from high school in Lawton, and married Erma Rundall May 25, 1938, at Moville, Iowa. He lived in rural Lawton and rural Kingsley.

He was a member of the Church of the Brethren, the Farm Bureau, and a Life Honorable Member of the Future Farmers of America of Kingsley School. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Opal Fosterman of Portland, Ore.; three sons and their wives, Dr. David and Barbara Christenson of Hartley, Iowa, Paul and Sharon Christenson of Vincentown, N.J., and Marc and Joyce Christenson of Boring, Ore.; five grandchildren, Tracy, Stuart, Brent, Ryan and Jason Christenson.

Memorials have been established in his name with the American Sunday School Union and the American Heart Association. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Willie and Ralph and two sisters, Edith and Fern.
