Mildred H. Saunders, 95, of Sioux City died Thursday, May 22, 2008, at her residence.

Services will be 11 a.m. today at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. David Schoop of Calvary Lutheran Church officiating. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service today at the funeral home. Mildred was born Feb. 13, 1913, in Emerson, Neb., the daughter of Nels and Anna (Nordberg) Johnson.

She married Lyall Saunders on April 2, 1930, in Hinton, Iowa. He preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 2002. She was employed by Allis Chalmers as a key punch operator and later a computer operator, retiring in 1968.

In her free time, she loved to dance and was a member of the Bon Temps Dance Club. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church.

Survivors include two sons, Gene Saunders of Dakota Dunes and Keith Saunders and his wife, Nettie of Phoenix, Ariz.; a daughter, Pat Saunders of Sioux City; a sister, Edith Beck; 10 grandchildren, Todd, Troy, Jeff, Dawn, Glenda, Kathy, Patti, Tim, Renee and Justin Karmineke of Austin, Texas; 25 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers, Nels Johnson and Elmer Johnson; and three sisters, Elvera Otto, Violet Wermes and Edna Haffa.
