OBITUARY.

EWALD ELLIOTT BIERMANN died in St. Paul, Minn., on the morning of Aug. 13th, after several years of suffering from consumption.
Deceased was born in Christiania, Norway, Jan. 1st, 1853, and came to this country when young. Possessing a rare uprightness of character and a fine education, he soon occupied positions of trust and responsibility. In 1880 he was married to Miss M.C. Christopher of Decorah. Rochester, Minn., which had been his home for some years, continued to be so until 1885, when he, with his family, moved to St. Paul to become assistant to A. Biermann, then U.S. Collector of Revenue. Later he became depute state auditor under the same gentleman. Last fall failing health compelled him to seek the more favorable climate of Colorado and New Mexico, from whence he returned during early summer to linger only a few weeks.

The remains were brought to Decorah last Monday afternoon by Miss Emily Christopher, relatives and friends receiving them at the station. The sorrowing company proceeded to the cemetery, where all that was earthly of the good man was laid at rest beside his wife who preceded him five years ago and their oldest son who died six years ago. A son survives his parents who has, since his mother’s death, lived with his grand parents in this city.

Revs. Haus and Pitner spoke words of comfort and hope, and the flower-covered coffin was lowered in the grave lined with evergreens. A last lingering look and so were closed the last sad rites which consigned to earth all that was mortal of this once strong man, to await the resurrection of all.
