Morris LaVerne Trimble
April 12, 1923 - August 2, 2016

Morris LaVerne Trimble, 93, of Clear Lake, Iowa, died on Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa.

A son of John David and Martha (DeVries) Trimble, Morris was born on April 12, 1923, in rural Clear Lake, Iowa, on the family farm where he resided his entire life. He attended country grade school and Clear Lake High School.

At the age of 15, he began his career flying, which he pursued up to the age of 90. During World War II, he served in the United States Army Air Force. Following his honorable discharge, he farmed the family farm northwest of Clear Lake. On October 8, 1947, he married Catherine Lois Hildman in Wesley, Iowa. He worked for Evans Air in Garner, Iowa, as a mechanic. In 1971, he founded Forest City Aviation, which he and his wife, Lois, operated until he retired in 1991. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and family. A technical advisor for the Experimental Aircraft Association, Clayton-Folkerts Chapter 94, he built and test flew many aircraft during his lifetime.

Morris is survived by his five children: James David (Diane) Trimble, of Iowa City, Iowa, Thomas John (Elvira) Trimble, of Champlin, Minnesota, Nancy Ann (Steven) Toepfer, of Oacoma, South Dakota, Richard LaVerne (Theresa) Trimble, of Forest City, Iowa, and Ted Allen (Lori Hackbarth) Trimble, of Clear Lake, Iowa; eleven grandchildren: Christine Mallare; Amber (Jason) Stone; Eric Toepfer; and Alicia (Ian Lyttle), Davine, Heather (Jesse Amundson), Jake (Stephanie), John, Josh, Tricia, and Tyler Trimble; two great grandchildren, Evan and Breah Trimble; his brother-in law, Dennis (Glenda) Hildman; and two sisters-in-law, Joyce Sankey and Ruth Hildman; as well as by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; an infant son, Sidney Allen Trimble; a brother, Roy Trimble; and a sister, Angeline Fuller.

A celebration of Morris’s Life will take place at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 6, 2016, at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, Iowa, with Msgr. John Hemann officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, Iowa, with military honors provided by the Clear Lake V.F.W. The family will greet friends Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home and then one hour before the service on Saturday. The family suggests memorials be directed to Hospice of North Iowa.
