(October 30, 1885 – February 22, 1920)

Chariton Herald Patriot, Chariton, Iowa, Thurs., Feb 26, 1920, p.6
Charles Franklin Tickel
For the second time within two weeks the death angel entered the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Tickel, near Newbern. On Sunday, February 22, their son, Charles Tickel, passed away after an illness of about a week with pneumonia. His brother, Theodore, died on February 10th, with this same disease, at the James Larkin home. Charles is the third son that Mr. and Mrs. Tickel have lost within fifteen months, another son, Roy, having lost his life in France while in the service overseas.
Charles Franklin Tickel, son of John and Luella Tickel, was born on October 30, 1885, and at the time of his death was 34 years, 3 months and 23 days old. He is survived by his parents and by two brothers and six sisters: Ray, of Newbern, Samuel, of Chariton; Mrs. Laura Johnson of North Dakota; Mrs. Stella Frazee of Centerville; Mrs. Elsie Jensen of Oakland, Calif.; Mrs. Lizzie Williams of Lacona, and Etta and Gladys who are at home with their parents. Deceased was a young man of good habits and had won the esteem and regard of all with whom he came in contact by his genial disposition, and sterling qualities. His friends were numbered by his acquaintances and his demise will be deplored by all. He was a loving and devoted son and brother and will be sadly missed in the home. To the bereaved ones, whose cup of sorrow is filled to overflowing, the deep sympathy of the entire community will be extended. [Burial was in Newbern Cemetery, White Breast Township, Warren County, Iowa]
