Sarah Perley
(July 28, 1833 – March 15, 1910)

Advocate-Tribune, Indianola, Iowa, Thurs., March 24, 2010, p.3
Mrs. A. C. Perley
Sarah Whitley was born at Stalybridge, Cheshire, England, July 28, 1833, and came to the United States in early childhood. Her girlhood days were spent in Lowell, Mass. Coming west she was married to Asa Perley at Lafayette, Ind., Nov 13, 1857. They made their home at Michigan City, Ind. To them were born two children, Mrs. Carrie Anderson and George F. Perley, who with their father and her sister, Mrs. A. L. Anderson, survive her.
The family moved to Warren County in 1869. Mr. and Mrs. Perley lived in Des Moines from 1866 to 1899 residing since that time with their daughter. Shy and retiring in disposition, she was yet the queen of her home. She united with the Methodist Episcopal Church in early life, teaching in the Sabbath school and helping in every way her health and means would permit. Always sunny in disposition with a good word for all with whom she came in contact, she was loved by all who knew her. All through her failing health she did not repine, but waited patiently day by day, saying, “My grace is sufficient for thee.” She passed into rest March 15, 1910.
