1. JOSHUA BINFORD1 CLOYED was born March 19, 1835 in Ripley Township, Rush County, Indiana, and died February 07, 1906 in Blakesburg, Iowa. He married NANCY REED October 02, 1856 in Wapello County, Iowa, daughter of BENJAMIN REED and MARGARET REED. She was born March 16, 1837 in Ohio, and died March 25, 1922 in Blakesburg, Adams Township, Wapello County, Iowa.

Information on the Cloyed-Cloyd name was given to me by Patricia Cloyed Marlin, Ottumwa, Iowa.

Joshua, Nancy & Charles' tombstone has Cloyed. The 1870 census shows Frances as age 13, Benjamin age 11, Charles age 11, Almira age 10, Laura age 8, Jay age 6, Samantha age 3 and Cary 7 months. Charles, Almira, Laura and Albert are buried in Blakesburg, Iowa.

Two Sudden Deaths
R.D. Voorhees and J.B. Cloyd, Two aged Men, Pass Away

J.B. Cloyd, an old settler, who lived three miles east of Blakesburg, died yesterday at his home. He recovered partially from a serious illness about a year ago, but one week ago he was taken ill again and his death yesterday resulted.

Ottumwa Daily Courier March 25, 1922

Mrs. Nancy Cloyd, widow of J.B. Cloyd, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fannie Hendrickson, 102 North Ward Street, at 1:45 o'clock this afternoon. She was 85 years old on March 16. Mr. Cloyd died in 1906. Eight Children survive. They are Frank M., of Golden City, MO., Charles and Ben of Blakesburg, Jay of Bronson, Kansas., Mrs John Allen of Blakesburg. The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon in Blakesburg Baptist church. More complete announcements later.
