WROTH family 1870-1880 Iowa

In 1870 census there was a William Worth of Eddyville, Iowa with his wife Lydia and children; Mary, Thomas, Hannah, John K. and Joseph William. In 1880 census of same location William Wroth is listed as a widower with a son William. I take it that the mother and her children could have possibly died of an epedemic. If anybody can help me, I would really appreciate it. I was thinking that maybe the Courthouse or library in Ottumwa may have something on their possible deaths. {1870-1880}
