Glotfelty funeral Saturday

OTTUMWA - Amey L. Glotfelty, 74, of Ottumwa, died this morning at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

She was born July 30, 1912, at Stanwood, the daughter of Fredrick Lane and Flora Abbott Porter. She had lived in southern Iowa and the Des Moines area most of her life. On Aug. 17, 1933, at the home of the Rev. Harry Whiting, Fairfield, she married H. Everett Glotfelty.

Mrs. Glotfelty graduated from Libertyville High School and received a bachelor's and master's degree from Missouri State Teachers College at Kirksville, Mo. She taught in the Cardinal School District and West Des Moines schools for 35 years and also served as principal in West Des Moines. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Iowa Arabian Horse Association, Bladensburg Christian Church and National TTT.

She is survived by three daughters, Joyce Carter, Joliet, Ill., Margaret Proctor, Carroll, and Virginia Yeager, Ottumwa, six grandchildren, one great granddaughter, and a brother, William Porter, Fairfield.

Mrs. Glotfelty was preceded in death by her husband, an infant son and her parents.

Following cremation, memorial services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Bladensburg Christian Church with the Revs. Leland Grove and Val Johnson officiating. Burial of ashes will be in Brethren Cemetery northwest of Libertyville. Raymond Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A memorial has been established to the Hospice of Wapello County at Jefferson Square in Ottumwa.
