Sarah Arlene Sparks

Sarah Arlene Sparks, daughter of Clyde and Olive Brown Zollars, was born January 15, 1912 at Fremont and died Wednesday afternoon, February 24, 1988 at Van Burren County Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua, at the age of 76.

She lived most of her life in Van Buren County as was a member of Keosauqua Christian Church.

She married Sidney Sparks July 20, 1929 at Keosauqua. Mr. Sparks died in 1979. A son, Donald, and a brother, Dale Zollars, also preceded her in death.

Surviving are two daughters, Shirley Aldrich, Keosauqua and Lois Greiner, Forsyth, Missouri; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Hazel Lunsford, Keosauqua, and three brothers, Cecil Zollars, Keosauqua, Leroy Zollars, Payton, Iowa and William Zollars, Phoenix, Arizona.

Funeral services were held Sunday, February 28, 1988 at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua with Reverend Bob Patterson officiating. Interment was in Blackledge Cemetery, east of Mt. Sterling. A memorial was established for the Keosauqua Senior Citizens Center.
