William McKinley (Bill) Russell

William McKinley (Bill) Russell, 84, of Miami, Ok. died on the morning of Oct. 4, 1984, at his home after a long illness.

Russell was born on Nov. 8, 1899, in Milton, and had lived in Miami for 37 years. He graduated from the Milton High School, earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Phillips University, Enid, and a Master of Science degree from Oklahoma A&M College (now Oklahoma State University.) he did post graduate work at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, and had taught school at Dover, Harward Drummond, and Kingfisher schools. He was also principal at Woodward, where he also coached football and basketball. He served as dean of men and director of counseling and guidance at Northeastern A&M College and taught psychology and a course entitled "Marriage and the Family." He retired from his work at NEO in 1965.

He was a member of Miami's First United Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday school for 35 years. He was a member of the Rotary Club and an Army veteran of W.W.I.

Survivors include his wife, Loraine Russell, a daughter, Mrs. Elinor Lehman of Miami, Ok., a sister, Mrs. Fanny Plank of Eldon, and five grandchildren.

Services were held at the Cooper Funeral Home in Miami.
