Hazel L. Hanshaw

Hazel Van De Ver Hanshaw, daughter of Charles and Clara Campbell Van De Ver, was born April 11, 1901 at Selma and departed this life early Saturday, Sept. 22, 1984 at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua at the age of 83.

On April 28, 1928 she married Guy Hanshaw in Fairfield. Mr. Hanshaw died Feb. 8, 1973. Five brothers and five sisters also preceded her in death. Survivors are nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Her husband was a World War One veteran and she was active in the American Legion Auxiliary as long as her health permitted.

Though having no children of her own, she was especially close to her nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 26, 1984 at 10:30 a.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with Rev. Bob Patterson officiating. Interment was in the Eldon Cemetery. A memorial was established for the Keosauqua Senior Citizens Center.
