ALLENA BENNETT

Mrs. Allena Bennett, 93, a former resident of Mt. Sterling, died at 8:50 p.m. Sunday, August 22, 1982 at Mercer County Nursing Home, Aledo, Illinois.

She was born January 30, 1889, near Mt. Sterling, to Harvey and Sarah Woolam Madden. She married Walter Bennett, who died in 1970.

The couple farmed near Mt. Sterling. Mrs. Bennett moved to Bloomfield in 1973 and to Illinois in 1977. She was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Surviving: son, Lloyd, Mt. Sterling; and six daughters, Lillie Kimmel, Bettendorf, Madeline Laughlin, Iowa Falls, Ruth Alexander, Alpha, Illinois, Rachel Creek and Phyllis Linn, both of New Windsor, Illinois, and Esther Sedore, Keosauqua.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 25, 1982, at the United Methodist Church in Mt. Sterling with the Rev. Harold Harryman and the Rev. Charles Butler officiating. Interment was in Harness Cemetery. A memorial to the Mt. Sterling United Methodist Church has been established at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua.
