Last Rites Observed For Lee D. Higdon

Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 22 for Lee D. Higdon, 84, Greenwood, Indiana, a former president of the Johnson County Hospital Board. He died Sunday, July 18, 1982 at Johnson County Memorial Hospital in Franklin after a brief illness.

Mr. Higdon was also a past president of, Rotary, Kiwanis, Dad's Club and Greenwood Park and Recreation Board.

He was born in Keosauqua, Iowa, March 7, 1898, to Grant and Stella (Lazenby) Higdon. He lived in Greenwood since 1951.

He retired in 1958 from Shell Oil Co. where he worked for more than 20 years.

He was an elder in the Greenwood Christian Church and a member of the Masonic Lodge and American Legion in Keosauqua. A 32nd degree Mason, he was a member of the Indianapolis Scottish Rite and Murat Temple.

He was a World War I U.S. Marine Corps veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Lillie M. (Davidson) Higdon; three sons, Robert E. Higdon of Marion, Ohio, Richard W. Higdon of Zanesville, Ohio, and Charles L. Higdon of New Whiteland. Seventeen grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, niece and nephew of Keosauqua, Mary Muir and David Griffiths, also survive.

The Rev. Chan Rutherford conducted a service at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, 1982 at Wilson-St. Pierre Greenwood Chapel.
