WENDELL O. CARSON

Wendell O. Carson (Kit), 71, a resident of the Washington, D.C. area since 1935, and of Springfield, Va. for the past 25 years, died Saturday, Sept. 26, following surgery in Fairfax, Va.

Mr. Carson was born in Texas. He retired from the Department of Defense in 1969, after 35 years of government service. He was a member of Civitan International for many years, serving as president of both the Arlandria and Springfield Clubs, and Lt. Governor of the Chesapeake-Virginia district. He was the recipient of many Civitan awards.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Smith Carson; nieces Patricia H. and Donna R. Claudio; brothers, William Carson of Texas; Tom Carson, California, a sister, Era Albright, Texas.

Memorial services were held Wednesday, Sept. 30, at the DeMaines, Springfield-Annadale Chapel in Springfield, Va.

Mrs. Carson grew up in the Douds area, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Smith.

Relatives in this area included Mrs. Stanley Robinson, Keosauqua, a sister of Mrs. Carson, and nephews and nieces, Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Robinson, Mr. and Mrs. John Robinson, Mr. and Mrs. Keith A. Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Murl Smith.
