C.L. Cecil Dies At 85

OTTUMWA - Charles L. Cecil, 85, Route 2, died Monday at 8:45 a.m., at Jefferson Square Manor in Ottumwa where he had been a resident the past three months.

The service will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa with the Rev. Edward Kail of the Milton United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Milton.

The son of Amos and Meda Carter Cecil, he was born July 4, 1892 near Stockport. He had been a resident of Van Buren Couty most of his life.

He was an employee of Louden Machinery Co., of Fairfield before his retirement in 1957. He was a veteran of World War I, serving with the U.S. Army. He was a life member of the Elvin Cecil Post No. 147, American Legion at Stockport and was a member of the Milton United Methodist Church.

He was married to Nellie E. Marshall Oct. 22, 1919. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Clarence Cecil, Ottumwa and Donald Cecil, Amarillo, Texas; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one brother, Stanley T. Cecil, Phoenix, Ariz.
