PAUL E. KEMP

Paul Edwin Kemp, son of Lawrence and Susie Swinehart Kemp, was born March 11, 1896, at Bull Creek, Pennington County, South Dakota, and departed this life Saturday, June 11, 1966, while working on his farm, located between Douds and Keosauqua, at the age of 70.

At the age of two he moved with is parents from South Dakota to Shelby County, Iowa, where he grew to manhood.

On June 26, 1918, he was married to Cecelia Ohms in Shelby County. They lived on farms in Shelby County, in Saskatchewan Province in Canada, and in South Dakota before moving to their present farm home in Van Buren County in 1941.

Remaining to mourn his passing are his wife; six sons, Howard of Keosauqua; Emory of Ft. Shaw, Montana; Carroll and Paul, both of Bozeman, Montana; Dwight of Lacrosse, Wisconsin; and Eugene of Fairfield; and two daughters, Mrs. Arla Mae Baird of Kansas City, Mo.; and Mrs. Thelma Kramasz of Minneapolis, Minn. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren, a brother and four sisters. His parents and a brother preceded him in death.

Mr. Kemp was a member of the Christ Methodist Church in Douds. He was a veteran of WWI, and a member of John Hyson Reneker Post No. 494, American Legion at Douds.

He will be remembered by his family as a loving and faithful husband and father, by his neighbors as a true friend, by his church as a faithful member, and by his community as a good citizen.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 14, 1966 at 2 p.m. at the Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with the Rev. Herbert Phillips, Methodist Pastor of Milton officiating. Vocalists were Mrs. Keith A. Smith and Mrs. Robert Pedrick, accompanied by Miss Margi Pollock. Mr. Kemp's six sons served as pall bearers. Interment was in the Leando Cemetery.
