Anna Eliza Herring

Anna Eliza Cooper, daughter of James and Harriett Herring Cooper, was born in Hartselle, Alabama on Dec. 26, 1885 and passed away at the Van Buren County Memorial Hospital on Sunday, June 11, 1972 after a lingering illness.

On November 10, 1901 she was married to Walter DeHart at Rocky, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death in September 1965.

To this union was born two children, a son Ernest and one daughter Ethel.

Mrs. DeHart came with her husband to Van Buren County some 58 years ago where they farmed in the Keosauqua area.

She was a member of the Center Chapel United Methodist church and her main interest throughout life has been her home and her church.

Mrs. DeHart has been cared for by her daughter and husband for the past three months.

She is survived by her son, Ernest of Wickenburg, Ariz., and her daughter, Ethel Teal; a niece, who made her home with this family, Juanita Achenback of Denver, Colo.; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

The Catcott Funeral Home arranged the service at the United Methodist Church in Keosauqua on Tuesday, June 13, 1972. Rev. James M. Ford officiated with Mrs. Keith Gaston, vocalist and Mrs. Herman Green was the organist. Interment was in Fellows Cemetery near Keosauqua.
