Charles Edward Black

Charles Edward Black, son of James Ross and Eliza Ann Black, was born April 11, 1877, at Selma, Iowa, and departed this life at his home north of Milton, October 23, 1942 at the age of 66 years, 6 months and 12 days.

On May 11, 1890, he was united in marriage to Mary H. Fisher and to this union three sons and three daughters were born, Janet at Ames, Mrs. Florence Carlson of Arbelia, Mo., Ross at home, Mrs. Helen Moore at Ames, Robert at Inglewood, California, and Edgar at Amarillo, Texas. And, also leaves 10 grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. J. W. McClure of Phillipsburg, Kansas. On January 2, 1927 his wife preceded him in death. At an early age he united with the Church of Christ at Milton and remained a member until his death.

On June 4, 1931, he was again united in marriage to Mrs. Bertha Cles, who with the children and stepson Earl remain to mourn his passing.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Christian church in charge of Rev. A.M. Hadley with burial in the Milton Sunnyside cemetery.
