In order to help you more information is needed. Do you know anything about your father? Date of birth, marriage or death? Are you trying to locate him because you never knew him or are you trying to trace his ancestry?

Not knowing if he is alive or dead and/or 40 years old or 90 years old could lead to locating or not locating information and perhaps on incorrect ancestry. I located a James Albert Lilly with a mother named Clara. You said he was "James Arthur." Could the name have been spelled Lillie? Were your parents married? Any idea of a place of residence in Iowa? What is the source of the surnames "Toner" and "Schmick"?

Sorry for all the questions, but there is too little to go on without a little more information.
