HOLLOPETER

In Response To: Geneology research (Charlotte Hollopeter Coffelt)

Looks like there were Thomas Hollopeters in SE Iowa before the turn of the century.

A 3yo Thomas was son of a druggist named David and his wife Lavinia in Davis County for the 1870 census.

A 5yo Thomas was the son of Simon and Sarah in 1860 for Marengo, Iowa County.

A Thomas G. born 1877 was with parents Abraham and Sarah in 1880 and 1885 in Brighton, Washington County.

It would help if you had Thomas' child's name that you descend from. At this point you can check out all three counties for further information from the IAGenWeb Counties mentioned.

A quick search of Iowa County IAGenWeb yields 40 results, the earliest being Simon Hollopeter in 1846.

Searching Washington County one finds little but you do know that there were some there according to Census date that I got on Familysearch.org.

In searching Davis County I see a Hollopeter is listed in the 1882 History of Davis County, page 431.

This should narrow your search down a bit. I hope I have helped and best of luck forging ahead.
