I found an online tree which had a birth year for Jacob, his wife's name, and children's names placing them in Floyd county in the 1870-1880 time period. Then I searched for a Jacob, born about 1835, in Pennsylvania, living in Iowa on the 1880 census.

in 1860, the family name was listed as Keys. They were still living in the same location. Jacob was listed at then end of his "uncle" William's household, which was directly before Jacob's parent's household.

On the Civil War draft registration, May and June 1863, in Anthony township, Lycoming county, the name is written as Kees.
