In Response To: Finding CRAVEN family (Sue Crouch)

I have spent some time today searching for your CRAVEN names.....also the DOUGLAS name. They are very hard to find, as you know. I have searched using ancestry.com extensively. I was able to find the parents of George Craven, who are Samuel & Sarah Craven in the 1860 Census, Wayne Co. Ohio. Sarah is there also in 1870 with some of the children. The parents of Mary E. Douglas are found in Platteville, Wisconsin, 1860 & 1870 Census yrs. BUT no findings for George Craven who married Mary E. Douglas. You might check the Iowa 1885 State Census. I found listed Cora V. Craven, age 13, female, birth county: Black Hawk. Living in Calhoun County, Cedar Twp in the Iowa 1885 Census. Her mother looks to be a Mary E. but her father has the name Albert Craven. Sorry, I could not be of more help. These Cravens might just have missed the census enumerator....don't ya just hate it when the ancestors did that?
