Last Rites for Edw. Hennick Held Saturday

Funeral services for the late Ed Hennick, native son of Story county, who passed away Monday, Dec. 23 at 9:30 at his home in Neosho, Mo., after an illness of four years, were held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Nevada Methodist church with Reverend O. E. Cooley officiating.

A brief service was held at the family home in Neosha Friday morning after which the funeral party left Neosha at noon arriving at the Martin Maxwell home in Maxwell Friday evening. Saturday morning the family gathered at the W. W. Hennick home in Nevada. The body, which arrived in Nevada early Saturday, was taken to the Morfoot Funeral Home until time for the funeral service.

Many relatives and friends attended the last rites. Reverend Cooley brought a comforting message to those sorrowing. Mrs. Norman C. Dobson of Nevada was at the organ. Mrs. Ansel Freeland sang "Rock of Ages" and "No Night There." The pall bearers were from the Nevada Odd Fellow's lodge which attended in a body.

Committal was in the Nevada cemetery.

Edward Truman Hennick was born in Story county, a son of John and Margaret Hennick with whom he resided until his marriage to Lillie Van Horn. They made their home in Story county until moving to Neosha, Missouri in 1926.

Mr. Hennick owned and operated a filling station previous to suffering a stroke in 1942. He was an invalid for four year before his death. being bedfast since last May.

During his long illness he was given tender care by his family. He was a devoted husband and father and will be greatly missed by his immediate family and a wide circle of friends.

Nine children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Hennick: Haxel, Irma, Mrs. Martin Maxwell, Luciel, Chester, Faye, Mrs. A. C. Dunkle, Herbert, Gurney, Edward and Harriett, Mrs. Robert Smith. Hazel, Luciel and Gurney preceded their father in death. The grandchildren of Mr. Hennick include Mrs. D. C. Thompson and Marilyn Maxwell, Theodore Dunkle, Edward and Sue Ellen Smith.

From Out of Town

Those coming from a distance to attend the funeral were Mrs. Ed Hennick, wife of the deceased, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Hennick and Mr. Herbert Hennick of Neosha, Mo. One daughter, Mrs. A. C. Dunkle, was unable to come because of sickness. Brothers and sisters attending were Charles, Ida, Nellie of Cambridge, Harve of Ames, Irve of Maxwell, W. W. Hennick of Nevada, the nephew, Bill and wife of Estherville, Jim Robinson of Graettinger, Mr. and Mrs. L. McClung of Elkhart and Ms. and Mrs. Harry Doubleday and possibly others.
