State Center, Dec. 11--Mrs. Mary Johnson, 86, a resident of Marshall county almost her entire life, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. M. E. Hilleman in State Center at 9 p.m. Friday, after an illness of one week, resulting from a fall which occurred on December 3.

Mrs. Johnson was born in Illinois June 16, 1851. She came to Iowa with her parents, Joseph and Mary LaPlant, when she was still a child. The family settled on a farm one-half mile south of Clemons. She was married John Johnson February 6, 1874. They lived on a farm in Minerva township south of Clemons for several years and then moved to a farm in Marietta township, two and one-half miles south of Minerva, where Mr. Johnson died on Dec. 3, 1913.

In 1917 Mrs. Johnson went to live with her youngest daughter, Clara, northwest of Minerva, but since last October had been at the home of another daughter, Mrs. M. E. Hilleman, in State Center.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by five daughters: Mrs. A. F. Hennis, Mrs. W. A. Goecke, Mrs. M. C. Hilleman, Mrs. F. C. Middleton and Mrs. H. P. Veren, all living in Marshall county. Lawrence, the oldest child, died March 7, 1922. Other survivors are 29 grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

The oldest of a family of eight children, Mrs. Johnson was the last surviving member.

The body was brought to the Estel Funeral home in Marshalltown where it will remain until funeral services are held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock. Rev. O. O. Bishop, pastor of the Minerva M. E. church, will be in charge. Interment will be in the Marietta cemetery.
