From Stevens Memorial Chapel obituary, Ames, Story County, Iowa:

Suzanne Clark, 81 of 700 South Dakota Avenue, Ames, passed away Sept.19 at the Israel Family Hospice House. Burial was in the Ames Municipal Cemetery, near the graves of her parents, George and Ferne Clark, and those of other close relatives.

Suzanne was born in Ida Grove, Iowa, on March 23, 1936. Her parents moved to Ames before Suzanne started school, at Roosevelt on 9th Street, which allowed Suzanne to make many lifetime friendships, some of which have persisted to the very day she died.

She loved living in Ames, even though some of her most memorable days took place in California, after graduation from Ames High School with the class of 1954, and graduation from Iowa State University with many friends from the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, to which she belonged. In later years, she belonged to the HN chapter of PEO, as did her mother.

Suzanne earned her lifetime elementary teaching certificate at San Francisco State College, after which she worked full-time for six years at an elementary school in Marin County, just north of the Golden Gate Bridge, starting with a year teaching kindergarten, followed by five years teaching second-graders, her favorite grade level.

Following her father's death in the early 1970s, Suzanne felt compelled to return to Ames, where she lived with and took care of her mother in the family home for the next 14 years, until her mother passed away in 1989. Suzanne also began her many years of employment at Iowa State University while caring for her mother.

It was also at this point that Suzanne got re-acquainted with an admirer from school days, and they were married in 1990 at Iowa's famous "Little Brown Church". Suzanne is survived by her husband, Paul D. Lunde, and through him by his daughter, Karen, and his son, Thomas.

Suzanne is also survived by her younger sister, Judy Kidder, of Kansas City, Mo. She was predeceased by her brother, George, and by her eldest sister, Shirley.
