In Response To: looking for an obituary (Marci Schrader)

Marci:
There is a problem with the entry in the WPA Records for Sioux County.
It lists a John P. Hensen born 16 Mar 1858 died 20 May 1917 St. John Luth Boyden.

However, it was a Wilhelm Frederik Hensch who was born 16 Mar 1858 and died 10 May 1917 buried at St. John's Luth cemetery Boyden Iowa. That record comes from the death index of the St. John's church at Boyden.

I could not find an obituary for either names on our newspaper site on line. The Wilhelm Hensch family lived just above the Sioux County line in 1910 census in Wheeler Tsp Lyon County. He was born 1858 Germany came in 1886, wife was Anna age 49 in 1910, Children were Hermann Hensch 23, and Meta Hensch 21.

I could not find any evidence of a John P. Hensen or Hensch in Sioux County at that time.

So my conclusion is that the WPA record is wrong.

Can you enlighten me further.
