Mrs. Mary Collar, mother of Mr. G. E. Bowers, passed away Sunday evening at the G. E. Bowers home in North Alton, where she has lived much of the time since the death of her husband ten years ago. Mrs. Collar’s maiden name was Mary Waite, her birth place Cohocton, Steuben county in western New York. She lived here until a year after her marriage to Silas Collar, also of Cohocton, and then moved with her husband to Michigan where the couple settled on a farm in the country in the vicinity of Grand Rapids. Here three children were born to them. Who are all living, Mrs. Edna Crakes of Ada MI; Mrs. Clare Bowers of Alton and Wilbur W. Collar of Kansas City, now in the Government employ at Philadelphia.

Mrs. Collar, the last survivor of a family of thirteen, was a woman of high character , devoted to family and friends. She passed away after a full life of eighty four years, respected by all who knew her and held in the warm affection of those who knew her well. Mrs. Bowers left Monday evening with her for the old home in Michigan where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, and where she will be laid to rest by the side of her husband.
