June D. Van Dyk, age 93, of Boyden, Iowa passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024, at the Sanford Sheldon Senior Care in Sheldon, Iowa. Her services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at St. John Lutheran Church in rural Boyden, Iowa with Pastor Jeremy Winter ~ officiating.

Burial will be in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in rural Boyden.

Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Friday, March 1, 2024 at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Boyden, Iowa.

June Dawn Van Dyk, 93, of Boyden, Iowa passed away on February 26, 2024, at the Sanford Senior Care Center in Sheldon, Iowa. June was the oldest of ten children born to Ernest and Edna (Schloetje) Egdorf. June was born on January 24, 1931. She was raised on the family farm north of Boyden where she received her education in a country school through the 8th grade. She was baptized on February 25, 1931, and confirmed on March 25, 1945, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hull, Iowa.

On February 16, 1949, she was united in marriage to Daniel Van Dyk. They lived a short time by Boyden then moved to California. In 1954, they returned to Boyden and raised three children. Eldon Dean, Sheryl LaRae and Sandra Gayle. They lived in the same house for 69 years. Dan passed away in 2008 and June remained in her home until November 15, 2023, when she moved to the Sanford Senior Care Center.

June was employed at Smit and Sons wrapping meat. She also served as a custodian at her church for many years.

June loved to bake bread and loved having her family members stop by for coffee. June took great pride in her lawn. She kept her lawn beautifully mowed all summer long.

June is survived by her son, Eldon Van Dyk of Boyden, daughters, Sheryl Kruse (Ray McCoy) of Sioux Falls, and Sandra (Robert) Goeringer of Hull, Iowa; 6 grandchildren, Robin (Charles) Sjogren, Chad (Alana) Goeringer, Ryan (Anna) Kruse, Travis (Mindy) Goeringer, April (Scott) Heimes, and Jessica (Kory) Veenis; 13 great grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; brothers and sisters, Ronald (Tylene) Egdorf of Sanborn, Iowa, Janice Kuiper of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Carol (Bill) Ferguson of North Ridgeville, Ohio, Arlene (LeRoy) Woelber of Boyden, Kathleen (Lawrence) Sohl of Hull, Iowa and Candace Gross of Grand Island, Nebraska; three sisters-in-law, Lorraine Egdorf and Henrietta Egdorf, both of Sheldon, Iowa and Lila Van Dyk of Sibley, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan, her parents, son-in-law, Larry Kruse, daughter-in-law, Klothilde (Much) Van Dyk; brothers, Eugene Egdorf, Dennis Egdorf, and Arlan (Linda) Egdorf.
