Dirk Haagsma died on Sunday in Alton at the age of 38 years and almost 7 months. The deceased had long suffered from a heart condition, and his wife is left in very helpless circumstances. The funeral was held Monday, on every occasion by Rev. J. W. Warnshuis gave a speech in the Reformed church.

Research note: From a family report on line (by others) Dirk Jacob Haagsma bron 17 Feb 851 Tzummarum, Friesland died 15 Sep 1890(1889) Orange City IA. He was the son of Jacob Aukes Haagsma 1799-1870 and Sjaartje Sjoers Boersma 1808-1861.

His wife was Baukje Meinderts Tymensma 1854-1924 Children Sarah 1881, Bessie 1888, Jacob 188 and Fannie 1889.

Baukje married Ritske P. Terpstra after Dirk died.
