Military service: Enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1957 and served in Korea until 1958. Honorably discharged.

Employment: After his service in the military, Alfred worked for Bill Goetz, who operated a farm supply business in Panama, IA and for John Cane in Dunlap, IA. In September 1965, he began working for Panama Transfer delivering freight in southwest Iowa and Omaha, NE. After nearly 50 years of driving, he transitioned to working in the warehouse; he retired from there in December 2013.

Hobbies/Interests: Served on the Panama (IA) town council; was a member of the Panama Volunteer Fire Department; enjoyed going to the horse races and to the casino, playing video slots, and opening pickle cards; mostly, he loved time spent with family
