Education: Attended a country school near Manning, IA until the 4th grade, and graduated from Manning High School with the Class of 1968. She continued her education at the University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in nursing in 1972.

Employment: Was employed as a registered nurse for the Veteran’s Administration Hospital for more than 30 years, working in Des Moines, IA, Seattle, WA, St. Louis, MO, and Albuquerque, NM. After she retired in 2007, she moved to Harlan, IA.

Hobbies/Interests: After her retirement, Cynda enjoyed traveling; some of her favorite destinations were Israel, Costa Rica, and the Caribbean. Additionally, she volunteered with the State Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP), providing Medicare counseling and resources to state residents. She also enjoyed making hats with the Happy Hatters. Mostly, she loved spending time with family.
