Wife of Well Know Cigar Maker Passes Away.
Death came to Mrs. Martin Beck at 11 o'clock Tuesday night at the family home, 1809 Harrison street, after she had been critically sick for some months. She was 54 years of age and was born at Alexandria, Va., her maiden name being Mary Elizabeth Markley. At the age of 12 she came to this city with her parents, and at the age of 17 was married to Martin Beck, the well known cigar maker. She is survived by her husband and nine children, William L., George, Andrew, LeRoy and Charles Beck, Mrs. William Evers of Chicago, and Misses Lillian and Hattie Beck of Davenport. Mrs. Beck was for a long time a member of Calvary Baptist church. The funeral will take place Friday at 3 o'clock from the residence.
