OBITUARY ~ LOWELL ADRIAN HAILEY
June 12, 1919 ~ February 08, 2018

Mr. Lowell Adrian Hailey, age 98, of New Johnsonville, TN

Lowell Adrian Hailey, son of Henry Erman & Etta Belle (Shields) Hailey, was born June 12, 1919 in Clarke County, Iowa.

Lowell grew up in Ringgold County with the exception of 4 years when the family moved to Brighton, Colorado in September 1928; returning to the Watterson area in April 1932. They lived by Watterson for 1 year, later moving east of Mount Ayr and eventually to the Shannon City area.

On April 30, 1942, Lowell entered the US Army and served his country during World War II. Lowell was proud of his service to his country. During his time in the Army, Lowell met and married Pearl M. Reineck. They were united in marriage on October 16, 1943 in Milwaukee, WI. After Lowell was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army on December 15, 1945, they moved to a farm south of Shannon City, Iowa, where they lived, and Lowell was a farmer, for 34 years. They were blessed in this marriage with two children, Dennis and Kathleen. In 1978, they moved to Greenfield, Iowa. Lowell was a member of the Lutheran Church, American Legion and V.F.W.

Lowell and Pearl loved camping, bowling, and wintering in Apache Junction, AZ for 18 years. In November of 2004, they sold their home in Greenfield and moved to Tennessee to be nearer to family. Pearl passed away on May 24, 2006.

Lowell continued to live at New Johnsonville, TN and passed away on February 10, 2018 while a resident at Humphreys County Nursing Home.

Lowell was an avid storyteller who could recall dates, time, and details that would amaze you. He was well traveled visiting every state but 2. Lowell was a kind, gentle soul who will be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Erman Hailey and Etta Belle Shields Hailey; wife Pearl M. Reineck Hailey; son Dennis D. Hailey; brother Gerald Hailey; sisters Velma Drake and Norma Edgerton

Survivors include his daughter Kathy A. McMeans (Wayne) of New Johnsonville, TN; grandchildren Alecia, Tammy (Troy), Amber, James, Kristian, Bridgette (Spencer), Nathan, Stephanie, Tara (Booker); 13 great grandchildren; one great, great granddaughter; several nieces and nephews; special dog, Tillie.

Visitation will be held at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr on Saturday, February 17 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. with services beginning at 3:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Mount Ayr with military honors provided by Ringgold Post #172 and the Iowa Honor Guard Unit.
