Megan Tia (Smith) Read passed away on Jan. 17, 2009, in Phoenix, Ariz. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24, at Mountain View Lutheran Church in Phoenix, Ariz. Interment was at Valley of the Sun Cemetery, Chandler, Ariz.

Megan was born March 8, 1965, in Cedar Rapids. She was the daughter of Charles (Bud) and Helena Smith. Megan was a 1983 graduate of Monticello High School, Monticello, and a 1986 graduate of St. Luke's School of Nursing, Cedar Rapids.

Megan married Loren Read (formerly of Brooklyn) on Feb. 14, 1997. They have two children, Baileigh and Logan.

Megan was a member of Mountain View Lutheran Church and sang in the choir there. Megan enjoyed quilting, singing and playing the guitar, and cooking. She will be remembered by her beautiful quilts, so lovingly stitched together.

She is survived by her husband, Loren; daughter, Baileigh; and son, Logan, all of Phoenix, Ariz.; her sister, Marlene (Bob) Zimels of Santa Barbara, Calif.; her brother, Marlin of Gilbert, Ariz.; her sister, Kim (Bruce) Nye of Omaha, Neb.; and her brother, Cam (Wendy) of Monticello.

Megan was preceded in death by her parents.
