REV. W.W. BOLT, D.D.
Former pastor of Congregational
church whose funeral services were held Sunday afternoon.

FUNERAL IS HELD SUNDAY

The funeral of Dr. Bolt was held Sunday afternoon in the Congregational church. A large company of church members and friends were present to express their sympathy at this last event. The services were in charge of Dr. Vittum, assisted by Dr. E.A. Steiner who preached the sermon. The body was taken to Omaha for burial yesterday.

A double quartet composed of Miss Ruthe Cole, Mrs. E.B.T. Spencer, Mrs. Margery Bouma, Mrs. Frank Porter, Mr. J.L. Lindsey, Mr. Wilford Smiley, Prof Milton Wittler and Mr. Alden Read furnished the music and sang the same songs which were sung at Mrs. Bolt's funeral, "Hark, Hark My Soul" and "Crossing the Bar." Prof. H.W. Matlack was at the organ.

The talk by Dr. Steiner consisted of a narrative of Dr. Bolt's life work and a tribute to the memory of a true and earnest man.

A brief notice of the life of Dr. Bolt appeared in Friday's Herald.

He had many friends here. He was a regular attendant at the meetings of the Kiwanis Club and took an interest in all the affairs of the community. The death of his wife a few months ago was a serious loss to him and he never seemed fully to recover the cheerfulness and ambition of the time when she was alive and helped him in his church work. There is much regret of his death.

Dr. W.W. Bolt was born in LaSalle, Illinois, the 25th of February 1865. He attended the academy at Beloit, Wis., and graduated from Beloit college in 1893.

Shortly after graduating from college he was married to Miss Cora Emily Tasker of Beloit, Wis. They lived for a time in Omaha where they were both employed. Later they moved to Hartford, Connecticut, where Dr. Bolt went to Theological seminary and took up ministerial work.

His first pastorate was at Roseville, Illinois where he went in 1898. Other places where he had pastorates were at St. Joseph, Mo., Lawrence, Kansas, Wichita, Kansas, Lincoln, Neb., Eau Claire, Wis., and Grinnell, Iowa.

Close relatives who survive his loss are three sisters: Mrs. Bessie Cochran of Utica, Illinois, Mrs. Mabel Plyn of Peru, Illinois, Miss Amy Bolt of Peoria, Illinois and one brother, E.L. Bolt of Decatur, Illinois. One nephew and his wife were here for the funeral, Mr. and Mrs. William W. Bolt of O'Fallon, Ill.
