Thank you for the info from Polk Co records. You are correct in assuming that Lafayette was John & Sarah Nevins son. He was born after they moved to Kansas and later came back to Iowa. Married 1} Iola Smith. They had 1 daughter (my grandmother) Pluma "Edna"

Nevins who married Wm B McGinnis and lived in Adair Co Iowa. Iola died young of t.b. and Lafe married 2) Nellie Crotty and had 4 more children - lived in Stuart, IA.

I have info on Lafe's descendents and info on Lafe's brothers and sisters who stayed in Kansas but don't have info on John Nevins first born son Francis Marion Nevins family. Nor have I ever found out Johns first wife's name or his parents names. Not even sure where he came from - some say Kentucky, some say Indiana - in either case I have not had any luck finding out.

I appreciate your response.
