Lester G. Wright, Sr., 79, died Thursday, September 27, 2012, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital. A visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday, October 1, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street.

Lester was born September 29, 1932, in Chariton, Iowa to Roy and Flora Wright. He worked for Delavan Manufacturing for 27 years as a machinist mechanic. When Lester retired, he was working for Law's 66 Gas Station as an auto mechanic. He was involved in auto racing frm 1959 to 1963. Lester loved to go fishing. Family was most important to him. He always enjoyed family birthday parties and the holiday get togethers. He will be truly missed by his family and friends.

Lester is survived by his wife of 62 years, Donna; son, Gene Wright; daughters, Janice (Tom) Daughtry, Debbie (Gene) Carter, and Beth (Larry) Conklin; 18 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and best friend of 62 years, Floyd Miller.

He was preceded in death by his son, Robert; his parents; and his sister, Lavonne.
