Frerich Wilken
Frerich Wilken, the long-time businessman of Brunsville, died suddenly on August 10, at his home. Death was caused by an internal hemorrhage. He was 72 years, 8 months, and 7 days of age.
Mr. Wilken was born in Germany in December 1878 and came to our shores in 1895. He was the son of John and Margrette Wilken.
Funeral services were held from the family home and from St. Peter's Lutheran Church at Brunsville, on August 13. Rev. A. F. Zenk. pastor of the local church brought words of comfort and direction. He remarked of the terrible world conditions prevailing today, making it impossible for the son, Elmer, to be present at his father's last riles.
Sioux Burial Association of Sioux Center was in charge of funeral arrangements. The body was laid to rest in the Merrill cemetery. Pallbearers were Gorge Albright, Herman J. Harms, Jack Reese, Henry J. Harms, Don Dickman, and William Bruns, Jr.
Survivors include the wife, Therese, three sons, John of Charles City, Herman of Brunsville, and Elmer, now with the forces in Korea; A brother, Eilert Wilken of Chatsworth, Iowa.
