Mrs. John (Sylvia) Buys

Mrs. John (Sylvia) Buys, 61, died Friday (Feb. 15, 1985) in the Akron hospital after a long illness.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the First Church of Christ. The Rev. Elmer Hodge officiated. Burial was in Riverside cemetery, under the direction of the Schroeder Funeral home.

Tim Kelley, soloist was accompanied by Mildred Klemme, organist as he sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond The Sunset".

Pallbearers were Barry Klave, Kenny Wise, Dave Knecht, Lyle Richardson, Paul Lockhorst and Bob Walrod.

Mrs. Buys, the former Sylvia Bolton, was born July 9, 1923, to Ed and Helen Bolton in Bloomfield, Neb.

She married John Henry Buys Jan. 25, 1946, in Leeds. They farmed for 33 years near Akron. She moved to town after he died in 1979.

Suvivors include four sons, Dennis of Dakota City, Neb.; Vookie of Beemer, Neb.; Loran of Westfield, and Bob of Akron; five daughters, Mrs. Jan Spangler of Fredomt, Neb.; Ms. Patty Ostermyer of Sioux City; Mrs. Toni Hodges of Pascagoola, Miss.; Mrs. Donna Kelley, of Westfield, and Tammi Buys of Akron; 12 grandchildren; two sisters, Georgeete Griffith of Florence, Mont.; and Ruby Rasmussen of Boies, Idaho; two brothers, Harold of Plainview, Neb.; and Paul of Bloomfield, Neb.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Douglas and a granddaughter, Angela.
