Lois' Obituary

Lois Barr, age 97, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2015, at a local hospital. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 1, 2015, in Riverside Cemetery at Akron. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8 PM on Friday, July 31, 2015, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City with a time of sharing at 7 PM.

Lois Lucille, daughter of Harley and Eula (Mills) Small, was born June 17, 1918, at Westfield, Iowa. She graduated from Akron High School. On August 7, 1938, Lois was united in marriage with Bruce R. Barr in Elk Point, South Dakota. Lois and Bruce made their home in Evanston, Illinois, for 43 years, returning to Sioux City in 1982. Bruce passed away on May 18, 1993.

Lois enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, playing cards, watching westerns on television, and visiting with family and friends over coffee. Lois is survived by her son Roger Barr and his wife Leonora Ubod Barr of Cebu, Philippines; a granddaughter Barbara Barr and husband George Egbert of Santa Barbara, California; a sister Laura Jensen and husband Vern of Dallas, Georgia; and by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bruce; three brothers: Donald, Loren, and Harley; and two sisters: Berniece Small and Lola Johnson.

The family respectfully requests that all gifts be in the form of memorial donations which will be given to Hospice of Siouxland and Noah's Hope Animal Rescue.
