DALE VERNON LINDER

Born March 17,1924 in Hartley, Iowa to Lewis C. and Bertha V. Hoffman Linder. Died December 31, 2007 in Castro Valley following a brief illness.

Beloved husband (60 years) of Norma Neudeck Linder. Loving father of Carol Starr (Raymond) of Hartley, IA and Marsha Carlson (Harry) of Bethel Island, CA.

Loving grandfather of Michael and Brian Starr; great-grandfather of Michaela and Brooke Starr, Joshua and Jacinda Starr.

Preceded in death by his parents and his brother Gene Linder.

Loving uncle of Marge Larson (Reg) of Lake Crystal, MN and Glenna McGee of Mankato, MN.
Schooled in Hartley, IA, graduating in 1941 from Hartley High School.

Dale served in the U.S. Navy as a Carpenter's Mate 2 with 126th Naval Construction Battalion, CMBU#582 75th NCB during WWII spending 2 years in Bouganville, Solomon Islands.

Before going overseas, he was briefly stationed at Camp Parks in Pleasanton where he met Norma at a Job's Daughters' dance in Hayward.

Dale was a painting contractor and co-owner of DeCor Painting and Decorating until retirement in 1992. Member of many Hayward organizations including Par 5 Golf Club, Hayward 20-30 Club (helped establish Little League in Hayward and active with Hayward Air Races in the 1950's), life member of Eden Aerie #1139 FOE (President 1972-1973). He has resided in Castro Valley for 50 years.

A memorial will be held Sunday, January 6, 2008 at 1:00 PM at Jess C. Spencer Mortuary, 21228 Redwood Road, Castro Valley, CA 94546.
