Mrs. Martha Rorem, formerly a resident of this community, passed away at the M.E. hospital in Sioux City, Saturday morning at about 7:00 o'clock, following an illness of about six weeks, and a major operation.

Funeral services were held in Paullina at the Siolam Lutheran Church Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, with the Rev. Eugene V. Holland officiating. Interment was made in the Prairie View Cemetery.

Mrs. Rorem was born at Stavanger, Norway, September 22, 1867, reaching the age of 76 years, 10 months and 13 days. She was the daughter of Enar Skavlan and Johanna Skavlan, and came to America when a young girl.

Surviving her are two daughters: Mrs. D.A. Hodgdon of Sioux City and Miss Esther Rorem who resides in California. She was for many years a resident of the Paullina community, but recent years she lived with her children Mr. and Mrs. D.A. Hodgdon, first at Ute, Iowa, and then at Sioux City.
