Walter Detwiler, 84, West Liberty, died May 30 at a Muscatine nursing home after an extended illness.

Services were held Friday, June 4 in West Liberty with Rev. Leo Widdel officiating. Burial was at the Oxford cemetery.

Detwiler was born April 29, 1887, in Switzerland, son of Emil and Amelia Detwiler. He married Martha Zimmerman in 1918 in Williamsburg. She died in 1965.

He farmed in the West Liberty and Williamsburg areas.

Surviving are 2 sons; Harold of West Liberty and Walter of Boulder, Colo.; 2 sisters, Mrs. Martha White of West Branch and Mrs. Clara Kiley of Aurora, Ill., and 7 grandchildren.
