WALTER MORRIS

Walter Morris, 90, of 705 Liberty street, died Monday night at Riverview Heights Nursing Home.
Mr. Morris was a retired soldier. He was born in Canada March 11, 1871, a son of Edwin and Charlotte Job Morris. He had been a resident of the United States for 70 years and had served with the Army during the Spanish-American war, and subsequently in Cuba. He had been a resident of Nichols following retirement from the Army and had lived in Muscatine the past 18 months.
He married Oda Hankins at Davenport a number of years ago. He was of the Episcopal faith.
Surviving are two brothers, Josiah A. Morris of Muscatine and Normal Morris of British Columbia; a stepson, Glen Slater of Fort Smith, Ark., a stepdaughter, Mrs. Verna Reeder of Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Fairbanks Funeral Home by the Rev. Albert E. Line. Burial will be at Nichols.

Funeral services for Walter Morris, 90, were held at 10:30 a.m. today at the Fairbank chapel. Rev. Albert E. Line officiated, and Mrs. Eva Kramer was the organist.
Pallbearers were Fred Swanson, Ben Nichols, Antone Ogren, Lewis Chown, Sam Cozad and Robert Barry.
Interment was at the Nichols cemetery, where Stainless Lodge No. 445 A.F. & A.M. conducted graveside rites.
